The Directorate-General for Territory (DGT), as the national Urban Contact Point (UCP) for the European Urban Initiative (EUI), is organizing an online session on October 27, between 10:00 AM and 11:45 AM, dedicated to the EUI Peer Reviews Contest – Autumn 2026.
The EUI is an instrument of the European Union's cohesion policy, funded by the ERDF. Peer Reviews aim to support European cities in designing and implementing their sustainable urban development strategies, through collaboration with representatives from other cities.
The session will feature an opening by the Deputy Director-General for Territory, Ana Seixas, followed by a presentation of the contest by Marta Magalhães, national Urban Contact Point for the EUI, who will cover objectives, eligibility, stages, support, application process, and deadlines.
The central focus will be a round table on the Portuguese experience in Peer Reviews, moderated by Eurico Neves, an EUI expert. Participants will include Nuno Pomar (Intermunicipal Community of the Region of Coimbra), Fernando Gomes (Municipality of Maia), and José Miguel Ramos Ferreira (Mayor of Miranda do Corvo), who will share learnings and advice.
The EUI Peer Reviews contest for Autumn 2026 is open from October 1 to November 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM (CET). It aims to select urban authorities with Sustainable Urban Development Strategies for Peer Reviews to be conducted between March and July 2027. Results will be communicated to all candidates by the end of December.
Participation in the online session is free, upon prior registration. Access details will be sent via email. The full program for the national event is available online.
