Gesamb has achieved notable results in urban waste management in 2025, exceeding national recycling and landfill targets, according to the Annual Report by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).

The Annual Report on Urban Waste 2025, published by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), highlights Gesamb's positive results in key indicators such as recycling, landfill disposal, and bio-waste management, positioning it favorably at a national level.
In 2025, Gesamb achieved a 59% rate for preparation for reuse and recycling, surpassing the 55% target set for the year and significantly exceeding the national average of 39%.
Landfill disposal also saw a positive reduction, decreasing from 49% in 2024 to 44% in 2025. This performance places Gesamb as the 4th system with the lowest landfill disposal among the 23 Urban Waste Management Systems (SGRU) in mainland Portugal, noting that two of the three better-positioned systems have incineration units, unlike Gesamb.
In bio-waste management, the company also stood out, with three municipalities (Estremoz, Montemor-o-Novo, and Vendas Novas) meeting their capture targets set in their respective PAPERSU, out of a national total of only 22 municipalities that achieved their defined objectives.
These results reflect the commitment of the Gesamb team, the collaboration with the Municipalities, and the contribution of the Citizens, reinforcing the company's commitment to more efficient and sustainable waste management.
