TML – Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa participated in the Budapest Exchange, an international conference on digital ticketing and public transport, held in Budapest on October 14-15.

TML – Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa was present at the second edition of the Budapest Exchange, an international conference dedicated to digital ticketing, innovation, and the digitalization of public transport. The event took place in Budapest, Hungary, on October 14-15, bringing together transport authorities, operators, technology companies, and specialists from various countries.
The meeting focused on implemented projects and emerging technologies, addressing topics such as digital wallets, mobile ticketing, national and international payment systems, data spaces, and Account-Based Ticketing. TML's participation served to showcase the experience of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (AML) in developing integrated technological solutions that link public transport management with ticketing and passenger information.
On the first day, Josué Monteiro, Tech Lead at TML, presented GO, the internally developed technological platform for supporting public transport planning, operational management, and monitoring. He highlighted the platform's functionalities for planning services, real-time operation tracking, performance indicator evaluation, and integrated information management, promoting transparency, collaboration, and interoperability.
On the second day, Nuno Cavaco, Customer Director at TML, presented the navegante® system, discussing the challenges of governing and operating smart ticketing systems. Since 2019, the system has promoted fare integration across all modes and operators of regular passenger transport in AML, covering its 18 municipalities and ensuring 100% territorial coverage.
The presentation detailed the technological evolution of navegante®, including operator system interoperability, data analysis, integration with other mobility services, the App with real-time information and journey planner, the corporate App, and digital validation via mobile phone. These solutions aim to simplify and integrate the public transport user experience.
The presence at Budapest Exchange reinforced the international sharing of TML's work and the monitoring of mobility trends, in a context of increasing relevance for digitalization and data utilization. AML's experience illustrates how proprietary technology and operator collaboration contribute to a more coordinated transport network centered on people's needs.
