The COMPETE 2030 program has launched new support for collective actions focused on corporate decarbonization, aiming to improve the environmental and energy performance of SMEs in the North, Center, and Alentejo regions.

The COMPETE2030-2026-15 notice aims to stimulate corporate decarbonization, accelerating the orientation of SMEs towards a paradigm shift in resource utilization, with a special focus on the most energy-intensive and polluting sectors. The objective is to drive the transition to a carbon-neutral economy through the adoption of low-carbon and more energy-efficient technologies and organizational processes.
Supported operations include the identification and dissemination of more sustainable, innovative, and low-carbon technological solutions and process changes, promoting decarbonization in SMEs and high-carbon intensity sectors, and strengthening business capacity focused on decarbonization, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources. It also encourages leveraging the potential of the regions for clean energy production and guiding and raising awareness among SMEs for the energy transition.
The actions aim to offer the potential for target groups to achieve, on average, at least a 30% reduction in direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions. Eligible applicants include business associations, chambers of commerce, tourism promotion agencies, R&D system entities, laboratories, non-profit private institutions with R&D as their main objective, public agencies with decarbonization competencies, and other non-profit public and private entities in co-promotion.
The application period will run on the Balcão dos Fundos until 5:00 PM on January 08, 2027.
