The Algarve 2030 program has launched a new call for proposals aimed at supporting the transfer of scientific and technological knowledge to companies in the region, with the application period running until February 2027.

The ALGARVE-2026-16 notice aims to fund projects that promote the application of scientific and technological knowledge within the business sector, as well as the economic valorization of Research and Development (R&D) results generated by the Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) system.
Eligible operations must fall within the domains of the Algarve Regional Strategy for Smart Specialization (EREI Algarve) and relate to at least one of the following actions: strengthening the transfer of knowledge to businesses, dissemination and economic valorization of R&D results, promotion of R&D&I in Tourism (focusing on environmental sustainability, circularity, and digitalization), and the promotion of endogenous products such as plants and flowers, beekeeping, citrus, carob, almonds, strawberry tree, geological resources, wine, sweet potato, and algae.
Alignment with the EREI Algarve is a mandatory and priority eligibility criterion. Applications can be submitted by higher education institutions, their research institutes and units; State laboratories, Associated laboratories, or international laboratories with a permanent base or representation in mainland Portugal; private non-profit institutions whose main objective is R&D (including Collaborative Laboratories and Technology and Innovation Centers); and other public or private non-profit institutions involved in scientific research activities.
The application process is open on the Balcão dos Fundos and closes at 18:00 on February 26, 2027. Further information can be found in the ALGARVE-2026-16 notice.
