The Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) is organizing the EU Agri-Food Days 2026 in Brussels on December 8 and 9 to debate the resilience of the European agri-food sector.

The European Commission's flagship annual conference on agriculture brings together farmers, the diplomatic corps, civil society, academia, and representatives from across the agri-food chain to discuss the challenges and opportunities that will shape the sector's future. The 2026 edition focuses on the question of how the European agri-food sector can respond to current challenges and build a more resilient future, analyzing this resilience across four interconnected dimensions: economic, environmental, digital, and social, with a focus on the role of European policies and the CAP.
The program includes perspectives for European agriculture, analysis of the EU's economic situation, sector competitiveness and viability, resilience to climate change and water resource pressures, social resilience, digital sovereignty, research, innovation, and artificial intelligence, and the award ceremony for the first EU Agri-Hackathon. The event will also feature parallel sessions, networking opportunities, and an exhibition.
For the wine and spirits sector, topics such as adaptation to climate change, water management, market competitiveness, and the incorporation of innovation and digital tools are of particular interest. Following these discussions is crucial for anticipating the evolution of European policies that frame the sector and for preserving an ancestral heritage that is both an economic driver and a force for territorial cohesion. The IVV will continue to monitor EU policy and inform operators about the resulting guidelines.
The event will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on December 8 and 9, 2026. Live online streaming will be available. Registration is not yet open, but the European Commission indicates it will open soon. More information can be found on the event's official website.
