TecMaia, in Porto, hosts on October 20th the dissemination session of the HI – Harvesting with intelligence project, focused on applying AI for chemical product management.

The HI – Harvesting with intelligence project, developed by VLM Compliance Solutions in consortium with the University of Leiria and Oeste, will present its results on October 20th, at 9 am, at TecMaia, in Maia, Porto. The main objective was to investigate, develop, and validate an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model based on "Deep Learning" for the analysis and extraction of information from Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
The implemented solution includes a Big Data system for SDS storage and processing, as well as distributed services on Cloud Computing platforms. This approach aims to enable disruptive levels of efficiency in the structured and regular updating of SDS, influencing the productivity and quality of work for Health, Safety, and Environment technicians in user companies.
The project positions itself in the chemical product management niche market, where the yourQEMI platform is a key player. With a focus on the safe and environmentally responsible management of chemical products, the solution aligns with the Reach and CLP regulations of the European Economic Area, considered global leaders in dynamism, ambition, and stringency. The yourQEMI platform is particularly aimed at European organizations, facilitating collaborative work among companies within the same group, regardless of their geographical location or language.
The project was supported by ANI, under the Incentive System for Business R&D – Co-promotion Operations, and backed by Centro2030, Portugal2030, and the European Union.
The dissemination session will focus on the main legal requirements for compliance with the Reach Regulation, the challenges companies face in its implementation, and best practices for ensuring legal compliance. The program will include sessions for clarifying doubts, sharing experiences, and updating information on new Portuguese and European legal requirements.
