The Alentejo 2030 program has opened applications to support individual participation in training and certification for workers who were employed at the Sines Thermoelectric Power Plant, following its closure.

The Alentejo 2030 program has launched a call to support individual participation in education, training, and/or certification processes for workers who performed functions at the Sines Thermoelectric Power Plant. The aim is to enhance their employability or professional retraining, following the industrial unit's closure.
According to the Territorial Plan for Just Transition, skills development in the Alentejo Litoral region should complement economic diversification investments. Sectors such as renewable energy, agri-food, tourism, construction, and the maritime economy are identified as areas with growth potential and investment opportunities, including the incubation of business ideas generated by R&D units.
The training may lead to a qualification up to Level 7 (Master's degree) of the National Qualifications Framework, or be obtained through the completion of Short-Term Training Units or Competence Units, culminating in the issuance of a certificate or diploma.
Only workers who were employed at the Sines Thermoelectric Power Plant and were dismissed due to its closure are eligible to apply. Eligibility is not dependent on employment status at the start of the training.
The application period, which is ongoing through the Balcão dos Fundos (Funds Desk), will be open until February 26, 2027.
