The Municipality of Valpaços, along with the Adega Cooperativa de Valpaços and the Cooperativa de Olivicultores de Valpaços, is present in Macau at the invitation of AJAP – Associação dos Jovens Agricultores de Portugal. This participation aims to showcase the quality, authenticity, and tradition of local products, highlighting the municipality's identity, heritage, and economic and tourist potential.
Jorge Mata Pires emphasized the importance of this international presence, stating that "Valpaços has excellent products, a strong agricultural identity, and heritage that is important to value and promote beyond borders." The mayor highlighted that the presence in Macau is an opportunity to promote the municipality, support producers and cooperatives, and build bridges with new markets.
The Mayor of Valpaços met with the Secretary of State for Agriculture, headed by João Moura, the Director of the Portuguese School of Macau, João Gonçalves, and the AICEP Delegation in Beijing.
Mata Pires added that "We want the olive oil, wine, and other products from Valpaços to reach further, carrying with them the quality, tradition, and authenticity of our land." They believe that valuing local resources and internationalizing local companies are fundamental to boosting the economy.
This mission allows for strengthening institutional relations, establishing contacts with potential partners, and exploring new economic and commercial cooperation opportunities, bringing Valpaços closer to Asian markets and Portuguese-speaking countries. The fair's presence reinforces the recognition of local producers and the promotion of the municipality's agri-food excellence to new international audiences and markets.
