ESI Robotics, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, is developing humanoid robots capable of interacting with people and executing tasks, representing a significant step in the application of artificial intelligence.

ESI Robotics, located in Vila Nova de Famalicão, is shaping the future of artificial intelligence through the development of humanoid robots. These machines are designed to receive people, understand instructions, and in the future, assist in factories or homes, bringing science fiction closer to reality.
Gil Sousa, co-founder of the company, explains that the goal is to "give a body to artificial intelligence," focusing on developing information and content to train robots. ESI prepares these humanoids to interact with humans and perform various tasks.
The visit of the Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, to the company's facilities last Thursday, October 29, as part of the "Famalicão Created IN" tour, highlighted this connection between the present and the future. The mayor stated he had "gone to the future in the present," emphasizing the territory's capacity to host and grow the technological industry.
Mário Passos underscored the importance of investing in research and development to "increase value, strengthen competitiveness, and conquer new markets" for local companies. ESI Robotics, founded in 2007, develops engineering, robotics, and automation projects for various sectors, including textiles, cork, food, and packaging.
Currently, ESI's humanoids are prepared for reception, event, and entertainment applications. Development for more complex tasks in industrial or domestic environments, or to address labor shortages, is being accelerated by advancements in technology and artificial intelligence.
The company, which already boasts clients like Grupo Amorim, IKEA, Porminho, Leica, and Vieira de Castro, focuses on increasing its partners' productivity through automation of repetitive tasks and process optimization. Its ability to solve concrete industrial problems and find technically and economically viable solutions is one of its key differentiators.
